The NATUR-PACK team has prepared for partner municipalities and cities a current version of the Manual for self-governments in relation to the Extended producer responsibility.
The aim of the Manual is to help local governments to get acquainted with the complex of rules and obligations arising from the Waste Act and other related legislation. Similar manual was created by NATUR-PACK also in the past, and it received very positive response from our partner self-governments. The current version has 37 pages.
NATUR-PACK will distribute the Manual to all partner self-governments electronically. There are currently 1,047 municipalities, including the four largest cities: Bratislava, Košice, Prešov and Žilina.
The Manual explains all parts of the Act No. 79/2015 on waste relevant for the self-governments, especially:
· waste management legislation relevant for the self-governments,
· separated collection of waste from packaging and non-packaging products,
· Extended producer responsibility and handling of municipal waste.
NATUR-PACK will further develop the message and goals of the Manual by a study comprising 100 analyses of separated waste components, performed by our company during four years in cooperation with the collection companies and partner self-governments. The analyses of separated waste components released lot of data and knowledge which could help the self-governments, environmental sector, non-profit organizations and also public to strengthen their common efforts to improve the waste separation efficiency.
We can end this topic with very good news. NATUR-PACK analyzed the data on separated waste components in the partner self-governments over the years 2019 and 2020. The proportion of separated waste in the municipalities increased by 18 % year-on-year. We are convinced that the Manual for self-governments in parallel with other materials we are preparing for the municipalities will help to achieve positive results also in the course of coming years.
